About the Job

The Investment Analyst is a key member of Orchid Capital Collective’s investment team, responsible for supporting the full arc of Orchid’s integrated capital work, from sourcing and evaluating prospective borrowers to stewarding portfolio partners through non-financial support. Reporting to the Director of Investments, the Investment Analyst brings both analytical rigor and relational depth to the work, helping ensure that Orchid’s investment processes are efficient, values-aligned, and responsive to the communities we serve.

This role sits at the intersection of investment analysis and portfolio services and is well-suited for someone with experience in community finance or impact investing who is committed to reproductive justice, racial equity, and economic justice, and who is excited to build systems and relationships in a growing, mission-driven fund.

  • Support the end-to-end investment process for the Tepal Fund, from pipeline sourcing and initial outreach to due diligence, credit analysis, and closing.
  • Review and analyze loan applications, financial statements, business plans, and other materials submitted by prospective borrowers, synthesizing findings into clear, well-reasoned investment memos and recommendations.
  • Conduct follow-up with prospective borrowers throughout the application and diligence process, maintaining strong relationships while gathering the information needed to evaluate alignment, creditworthiness, and organizational readiness.
  • Project manage the Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) process, including drafting meeting agendas, preparing presentation decks, coordinating communications with IAC members, and managing the flow of materials and decisions.
  • Liaise with external counsel and the Mission Driven Finance (MDF) team on deal structuring, legal documentation, and closing logistics.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Orchid’s investment management systems, including deal tracking, due diligence files, and pipeline reporting.
  • Support the Director of Investments in monitoring portfolio performance and covenant compliance, flagging emerging risks or opportunities for attention.

Portfolio Services & Technical Assistance (35%)

  • Serve as a primary relationship holder for portfolio partners receiving non-financial support, proactively tracking their progress, identifying emerging needs, and connecting them to relevant resources and networks.
  • Coordinate and manage the technical assistance (TA) process for portfolio partners and prospective borrowers, liaising with TA vendors to ensure timely, high-quality, and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Support the design, coordination, and execution of external webinars and ecosystem-level programming, including logistics, content development, and participant engagement.
  • Track and document TA utilization and outcomes across the portfolio to support impact reporting and learning processes.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Orchid’s non-financial resource strategy, identifying gaps and opportunities to strengthen the support infrastructure available to community-rooted entrepreneurs.

Program Administration and Implementation (15%)

  • Serve as an engaged and values-aligned member of the Orchid team, contributing to cross-functional collaboration, internal learning, and organizational culture.
  • Support the Director of Investments and CSO in preparing materials for investor and funder reporting, board presentations, and external communications related to the Tepal Fund.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investment and portfolio systems, workflows, and documentation standards.
  • Represent Orchid at relevant convenings, site visits, and field-building spaces as needed.
