Investment Officer Latin America

at SIDI in Paris or Latin America

About the Job

SIDI is recruiting a Partnership/investment Officer to strengthen the "Latin America and Rest of the World" division, amidst a period of rapid growth in its activities across South and Central America. Joining SIDI means taking part in a unique mission: supporting organizations committed to inclusive finance, agriculture, and sustainable development in the Global South.

As a Partnership/Investment Officer, you will play a key role in identifying, supporting, and financing partners that deliver high social and environmental impact.

You will report to the Latin America Manager within the Operations Department, a team of 16 people.

You will be involved in every stage of the partnership lifecycle—prospecting, assessment, monitoring, and capitalization—and will coordinate support and governance assistance for partners in South American countries, working alongside SIDI’s cross-functional teams and external consultants.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Partner prospecting & implementation of the country strategy

Objective: Identify potential new partners in South American countries in alignment with SIDI’s strategic plan.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting general market monitoring in your geographic area by maintaining an active network of organizations and key contacts.
  • Leveraging information gathered in the field during missions and meetings with local stakeholders.
  • Conducting targeted technical monitoring in a priority sector (digital finance, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, etc.).

Your role: identify investment opportunities that combine economic viability with significant social and environmental impact.

File Instruction & Partner assessment

Objective: Build and implement the partnership approach with identified partners.

Your tasks:

  • Conduct or update a comprehensive assessment of the partner (organizational, operational, financial, social, and environmental) and identify their needs.
  • Based on this assessment, propose partnership terms: loans, equity investments, guarantees, or technical assistance.
  • Prepare financial commitment proposals and present them to SIDI’s pre-selection committee, adhering to current templates and criteria.

You are responsible for the quality of the proposed partnerships and the information provided to the investment committee to facilitate decision-making.

Partner Monitoring & Support

Objective: Ensure precise monitoring and a long-term partnership, anticipating risks and supporting the development of funded organizations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Financial and operational monitoring

    • Regularly track key indicators and critical issues identified during the initial assessment and over time.
    • Monitor repayments and performance trends.
  • Structured support

    Define a support strategy in close collaboration with SIDI’s Support Team—either directly or through external experts (handling Terms of Reference, donor requests, etc.)—and oversee its implementation to ensure objectives are met.

  • Participation in governance (equity investments)

    • Depending on your profile, you may be required to serve on partners' Boards of Directors or organize SIDI’s representation through consultants.
    • You will contribute to strategic decision-making, support positions aligned with SIDI’s mission and actively participate in resolving complex situations or crises.

Qualifications

Education, knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s level education in management/finance or engineering/agronomy, with a solid foundation in corporate finance—specifically regarding equity investment transactions;
  • Proven experience in a similar or equivalent role;
  • Ability to conduct financial, organizational, and strategic assessments of microfinance institutions, agricultural entities, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and to present findings to an investment committee;
  • Ability to structure complex transactions and identify innovative solutions addressing climate change challenges (renewable energy, circular economy, resource conservation, low-carbon transport, sustainable/regenerative agriculture, etc.);
  • Excellent command of French, Spanish (fluency is essential given the portfolio in question), and English, both written and spoken;
  • Knowledge of and strong interest in international cooperation issues in general, and rural financial inclusion in particular, including social and environmental performance aspects.

Skills and Soft Skills:

  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills for interacting with a wide range of stakeholders; team-oriented mindset;
  • Strong organizational capacity to work efficiently and respect deadlines;
  • Flexibility, responsiveness, initiative, and adaptability;
  • Intuition, ability to synthesize information, and excellent writing skills; rigor in interpreting data and qualitative information;
  • Ability to work autonomously while ensuring key information is reported upwards;
  • Proactivity and ability to propose solutions when managing issues with partners and other investors, as well as during business development activities;
  • Ability to assess risks, combined with the initiative to act within institutional environments that may be complex or uncertain.

SIDI

SIDI (Solidarité Internationale pour le Développement et l’Investissement), established in 1983 by CCFD-Terre Solidaire, is a pioneer in solidarity-based investment in France. By mobilizing solidarity savings from citizens and institutional investors, it finances and supports economic actors in over 30 countries (primarily in Africa and Latin America) with the aim of improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations—often those excluded from mainstream financial systems, particularly in rural areas.

It specifically supports microfinance institutions, producer organizations, and SMEs with high social and environmental impact. In doing so, SIDI seeks to combat economic inequality and poverty while addressing the challenges posed by climate change.

SIDI has a team of around thirty people based at its headquarters (Paris) and in two regional offices (Lomé and Kampala).
