About the Job
The Africa Public Health Foundation seeks an exceptional philanthropic leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and advance the Foundation’s mission and footprint across the continent.
APHF is a new and timely organization designed to mobilize philanthropic and private-sector resources in the service of its protector, Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). The APHF is a critical platform for philanthropists and partners to collaborate with Africa CDC to address health security threats in Africa and mitigate the impacts of existing and future diseases among the continent’s most vulnerable people.
Leveraging the expertise of Africa CDC and APHF’s world-class advisory Council, the CEO will lead on the Foundation’s activities to achieve its operational and strategic goals. S/he will manage and guide successful fund and donor development, fiscal management, grants, and program operations, Council relations, human capital management, community relations, and administrative matters. The CEO will serve as a communication bridge between APHF and its stakeholders and partners, including Africa CDC.
APHF seeks an African national with 10+ years’ senior leadership experience, including proven success in resource mobilization, fund development, and internal and external stakeholder management. S/he will be a strategic and collaborative relationship builder who can cultivate and grow impactful partnerships to advance APHF’s mission. Likewise, the CEO will be a charismatic thought leader who can effectively communicate and influence philanthropy’s role in improving health security, systems, and outcomes on the continent.
