This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing private equity fund manager. 57 Stars is an investment firm with a global presence focused on primary and secondary partnership and co-investment opportunities in select private equity markets primarily outside the United States and Western Europe. Based in our Washington, DC office, the position will have broad scope, and the successful applicant will have an opportunity to work with teams across the firm and have exposure to various aspects of private equity fund management. You will work closely with 57 Stars’ Investment Team to support implementation of ESG integration and impact management efforts. You will also work with Investor Relations and Business Development Teams on investor communications.
The position is focused on ESG and impact investing but may involve performing a wide variety of tasks and analysis as needed.

Principal responsibilities include:

  • Actively participate and support the Investment Team in ESG and impact assessment, monitoring, and reporting
  • Contribute to developing and implementing the firm’s ESG and impact management policies, systems, and processes
  • Work closely with the Investment Team to support ESG and impact assessment of companies and funds as well as ongoing monitoring efforts, which will include engaging with investees on specific ESG topics, collecting data, and researching ESG issues affecting the sector/company
  • Assist in preparing investment documentation
  • Work closely with Investor Relations and Business Development Teams to support communication efforts around ESG and impact data for existing and prospective investors, including preparation of presentations, and assist with LP requests and RFPs
  • Support preparation of ESG and impact reports, including investment write-ups, data analysis, and periodic reports to investors and third parties
  • Update and maintain relevant databases
  • Engage with third-party service providers and industry associations
  • Attend industry conferences and investee meetings as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of related professional experience in consulting or financial industry; experience in, and knowledge of, private equity and investment processes is a plus
  • Demonstratable experience in and a good understanding of ESG and impact investing, including measurement and reporting frameworks
  • Experience applying IFC Performance Standards or equivalent frameworks; experience working with SASB is a plus
  • Knowledge of current best practices in ESG and impact investing, and intellectual curiosity and desire to learn about the industry trends as well as about emerging markets
  • Strong project management and execution skills, an ability to meet challenging deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy
  • Strong quantitative, data management, and data manipulation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other data analytics applications
  • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal; experience writing and producing reports
  • Willingness to travel overseas
  • Foreign language fluency a plus
  • Undergraduate degree from a leading university; a master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus
