Global Grant Manager

at Porticus in Global, any Porticus Office, with preference to Zug, London, Brussels

About the Job

The Global Grant Manager (“GM”) will work primarily in the Laudato si’ Portfolio to support the grant making in its global programmes: “Business as a Force for Good” (B4G) & “Faith-based Investing” (FBI). The B4G Programme’s objective is to embrace purposeful and profitable businesses that eventually tip the linear economic system to a regenerative one with the people and the planet at its heart. The FBI Programme intends to enable faith-based asset owners to engage in better, more sustainable and social asset management, including impact investing.

Key responsibilities:
Grant Making and Grant Management

  • Support the Programme Manager in coordinating effectively with regional colleagues involved in programmes
  • Identify opportunities for innovative grants and clearly articulate the expected outcomes
  • Monitor developments in the field to identify emerging trends, needs, gaps and opportunities
  • Be responsible for assessing the suitability of grant applications in alignment with project and/or programme development;
  • Ensure adherence to the corresponding Porticus workflow processes; ensure compliance to Porticus due diligence and protection policies
  • Review progress reports and impact evaluations and monitors use of grant funds

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and manage a network of implementing partners and grantees, help with the screening of potential grantees
  • Talk to funders in the field to see where collaboration/co-funding is feasible
  • Be a strong networker, take partners’ relationships to the next level to shape future programming; engage with new partners of various profiles

Thought Leadership

  • Support the evaluation of impact, share results and learnings internally as well as externally and apply learning theory for course-correction and future directions
  • Contribute to interregional engagement and collaboration by actively supporting Porticus as a Learning Organisation, by sharing knowledge, sharing experiences with teams and fostering own development


Experience and requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field. Advanced degree in a specialized field demonstrating impact management/investing and sustainable business knowledge is preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience with and a strong interest in sustainable investing, impact investing and sustainable business models or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Specific experience with impact management/sustainable investing field building and movement building efforts, ideally to engage faith asset owners
  • Specific experience in corporate transformation, including non-financial disclosure (impact and ESG data, metrics and measurement), as well as enabling changemakers/intrapreneurs
  • Understanding of the policy arena shaping and influencing corporate sustainability measures
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector. Experience in philanthropy and grant-making including strategy development, RFP development, potential grantee due-diligence, grant monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a convener, facilitator and collaborator, including professionally engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communications skills in English. Good knowledge of at least a second language is desired
  • Ability to communicate concepts, research findings, and data interpretations and to draw the implications of these analyses for the objectives of the two Global Programmes
  • Demonstrated skill in independent thinking and problem-solving, with proven ability to manage a complex strategy
