About the Job
The Director role is an integral part of the ACDI/VOCA’s Partnerships and Investment team, a dynamic group exploring the frontiers of impact investing, blended finance and innovative finance – and where these intersect with economic development and market systems development. The Technical Director, Partnerships & Investments is responsible for designing and implementing initiatives of ACDI/VOCA’s impact investment and blended finance initiatives in West Africa, East Africa, Central Asia and new locales. This will entail developing, contributing to, and providing technical guidance, operational management and fundraising support to AV Ventures LLC (ACDI/VOCA’s investment management subsidiary) and associated investment vehicles.
Partner with the Managing Director of Partnerships and Investment to implement business plans for existing investment vehicles and design business plans for new investment vehicles. Independently source, qualify and pursue new business opportunities with traditional and non-traditional donors, foundations, corporations and investors for funding opportunities. Provide technical guidance and oversight to ongoing blended finance, impact investment, Agribusiness financing, access to finance, financial inclusion, enterprise development and public/private partnership initiatives. Responsible for providing technical assistance to ACDI/VOCA and AV Ventures’ current and future projects in blended finance, impact investing, access to finance, agricultural finance and enterprise development. Contribute to governance efforts for ACDI/VOCA’s affiliates financial institution (AFI) network by participating in business planning sessions and providing technical assistance. Share technical learning and teach others to be leaders in impact investment. Keep current with literature and other advances in the field and relevant professional organizations, and engage in relevant associations, fora, etc. Foster collaboration and collegiality across work groups including field offices. Perform other duties as required.

Master’s degree required in business administration, finance, economics, international development, or related field. Minimum of eight years’ experience, including overseas work, in international finance, commercial agribusiness, and/or international development required. Significant work experience in private equity, investment, and/or private agribusiness strongly preferred. Highly effective oral communication skills in English. Fluency in another language such as Russian, French or Spanish is also preferred. Excellent writing skills in English (with the ability to write in another language such as Russian, French or Spanish preferred). Strong interpersonal and team skills, with ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures and embrace innovation and creative thinking. Demonstrated leadership and team building skills, particularly leading cross-departmental and international groups. Experience with multi-media applications, Power Point and other Microsoft programs. Ability and willingness to travel to underdeveloped countries.
