About the Job

OVERVIEW:
The Director of Sustainable and Impact Investing serves as the driving force behind Glenmede’s impact investing effort. The position is responsible for coordinating, organizing, implementing and providing strategic oversight of Glenmede’s impact investing process and research. The Director of Sustainable and Impact Investing provides leadership in the management of impact relationships and strives to broaden the impact-related exposure and business opportunities for Glenmede. This position will report to the Director of Investment Strategy and will work closely with investment-related professionals across all functions and a variety of departments including manager research, private equity, marketing, relationship management, business development and legal.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Impact Strategy Leadership. Lead the effort to develop strategic and tactical initiatives for sustainable and impact investing. Provides leadership in defining and realizing Glenmede’s impact priorities, including expanding capabilities, creating solutions, improving client experience, and / or developing more efficient processes.

Impact Thought Leadership & Brand Development. Act as the primary spokesperson for Glenmede’s sustainable and impact investment capabilities both internally and externally. Responsible for overseeing thought leadership and communications related to sustainable and impact investing. Impact Solution Research & Development. Actively analyze and follow trends in the sustainable and impact investing industry. Responsible for driving research views related to sustainable and impact investing. Responsible for overseeing development of impact solutions for clients, including both public and private market sustainable and impact investment opportunities.

Impact Amplification & Measurement. Expand Glenmede’s environmental, social, and governance shareholder engagement and proxy voting efforts. Guide the development of impact measurement and reporting tools for both public and private market investments and help to train relevant staff.

Collaboration. Coordinates with internal stakeholders in the Private Wealth, Endowment & Foundation, and Institutional businesses as well as with the Marketing function regarding marketing and communications strategies to grow the sustainable and impact investing asset base. Act as a spokesperson at client meetings, prospect meetings, conferences, and events. Work with variety of departments including manager research, portfolio managers, marketing, relationship managers, and business development.

Firm Building. Engage in department-specific and firm-wide initiatives to expand capabilities, improve user experience, and develop more efficient processes.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree is preferred. CFA designation is preferred.
2. 10+ years of investing experience preferred.
3. 3+ years of relevant and substantive experience in impact investing and / or social impact is required.
4. Experience in navigating conversations around impact-oriented investment approaches and working to align client investment portfolios with their values.
5. Comprehensive understanding of sustainable and impact investing strategies.
6. Demonstrated experience creating and executing strategic plans and programs. Ability to translate strategy into actionable objectives.
7. Experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams with a proven track record of employee development.
8. Strong interpersonal, collaboration, communication and teamwork skills. Strong quantitative and problem solving skills with a rigorous analytical mindset.
