 Position Summary 

 

The Senior Investments Officer will be a key member the Accion Global Investments team, bringing expertise in investing in regulated financial institutions that are developing innovative digital financial services as well as operational knowledge of how financial services providers can leverage technology to scale. The candidate will work closely with Accion’s Global Advisory Solutions team to help develop digitization strategies for companies and will liaise with company boards and management teams to ensure alignment on Accion’s company engagement and digital strategies.

Responsibilities:
Identify equity investment targets, lead deal execution and help manage equity investment portfolio;
Represent Accion on portfolio company boards;
Work in partnership with the Global Advisory Solutions to develop digitization strategies for portfolio companies; track and measure Accion engagement value creation to produce measurable results;
Provide strategic support for portfolio companies, such as developing suitable alliances, raising new debt and equity, and providing input on strategic digitization initiatives;
Develop strong relationships with key co-investors to lead investor syndicates;
Prepare detailed financial models, projections, and valuations to analyze equity investment opportunities;
Develop exit strategies and pipeline of potential investors for portfolio companies;
Lead responsible commercial exits.

Qualifications

10+ years of work post college experience with significant time working in emerging markets and financial services
Masters level degree
Experience identifying investments, negotiating transactions and managing investments in emerging markets;
Experience in influencing board and management strategies;
Experience in developing digital strategies for financial inclusion;
Deep understanding of financial service providers / financial technology operations;
Due diligence and analytical experience to identify commercially sustainable investments;
Ability to create a strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies and decision makers to deliver end-products;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness and ability to work across all levels of organization. Proven experience in developing senior executive presentations and communications;
Strong oral and written communication skills in English required, other languages a plus;
Ability to work independently while working with a global team;
Cultural sensitivity with ability to interact effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and multi-cultural environments;
Travel is required (ranging from 30%- 50%)
