Nesta Impact Investments brings together Nesta’s impact investing and venture capital expertise to invest in innovation in the areas of:

We invest equity, quasi-equity and debt investments of between £150k and £1m. The fund targets early stage ventures with highly innovative products and services. Often technology is at the core of the solutions we back.

We are unswervingly committed to investing for positive impact on a set of target outcomes we have identified, and set our investees targets for both growth and on-going evaluation of their impact. We are able to invest in a range of legal form of organisations, from private companies to community interest companies and registered charities so long as impact on our target outcomes is clear, measurable and at the core of the business activity.

The fund is formally managed by our FCA authorised fund management subsidiary, Nesta Investment Management LLP. The fund held a first closing in late October 2012, with investment from Nesta, Omidyar Network and Big Society Capital and is actively investing now. The team has five members with a mixture of venture capital, social enterprise and impact investing experience. There is now the opportunity for an analyst to join this team in the early phase of the fund and therefore to be involved in the full investment cycle.

The role involves research and initially screening investment opportunities, providing analytical support to investments in due diligence, and working with Investment Executives across all stages of the investment cycle – from the identification of investment opportunities, their evaluation and screening, through to impact and financial performance monitoring and management of successful exits.
